Hi! I’m Danielle.

They there! I'm Danielle, the heart and soul behind Bee Focused Photography. Find on my blog, client spotlights, behind the scene tales and my top tips for personal branding and family photography.
So, you’re thinking about a family photography session but not sure what to expect? Let me guide you through the process, from our first conversation to receiving your final images.
Prior to your session, we’ll primarily communicate via email. You’ll receive a contract, invoice, and all the details about your session. For mini sessions, I provide PDF guides to help you prepare.
At this stage, feel free to share as much about your family as you’d like. Knowing names, interests, and ages of your children helps me plan a relaxed and engaging session. If any family members have additional needs, I’d love to know how I can make the experience enjoyable for everyone. If your child has social communication needs, I can provide a tailored social story to help them feel at ease. Additionally, all children receive a ‘Meet the Photographer’ PDF, which you can share with them before the session.
My goal is to ensure you feel as prepared and comfortable as possible. Inclusivity is at the heart of what I do, so just let me know how I can help.
This is a common question, so I’ve created style guides with outfit inspiration for each session type. I recommend choosing an outfit for one family member (perhaps the most stylish or the fussiest!) and coordinating the rest around that. Avoid overly matching outfits—opting instead for complementary colours or subtle patterns.
For a timeless aesthetic, steer clear of big logos and cartoon characters. However, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and happy in what you’re wearing. If you’re unsure, send me photos of your outfit options, and I’d be happy to offer guidance.
Whether we’re meeting at an outdoor location or I’m visiting your home, we’ll start with a short walk and chat. I’ll introduce myself to the children, helping them feel comfortable before we begin.
Think of our time together as a mini adventure rather than a photoshoot. Play with your children, hold their hands, pick them up, cuddle, laugh, and just enjoy the moment. I’ll be there to capture the magic as it unfolds.
Some families prefer gentle guidance, while others like to follow their child’s lead. I’m happy to suggest games and prompts to encourage natural moments. Even if your child wants to run around, climb, or explore instead of posing—that’s absolutely fine! We’ll work with their energy and capture beautiful memories regardless.
I often remind families to imagine I’m filming rather than photographing. This approach helps avoid stiff poses and forced smiles. Generally, I suggest not looking at the camera unless prompted, but if your child interacts with me directly, that’s okay too! I have plenty of tricks to ensure we capture their personality in the best light.
Once your session is complete, I’ll carefully select the best images. You’ll first receive a set of unedited black-and-white images to create a favourites list. I recommend choosing twice the number you think you want, as it helps narrow down your final selections.
Once you’ve made your choices, I’ll edit them in full colour and send them back to you via a private, password-protected gallery. From there, you can download your included images using a unique code. If you’d like extra images, you can purchase them directly through the gallery.
Your gallery also offers the option to order professional prints and wall art from Loxley Colour, a high-quality photography lab. If you choose to order, your prints will be delivered straight to your door.
Above all, these sessions are a chance to switch off from the world and spend quality time with your family. Don’t worry about perfection — just bring your love, laughter, and yourselves. I’ll take care of the rest.
Let’s create magical memories together — you’ll cherish them for a lifetime.
