Hi! I’m Danielle.

The Pigeon’s Nest is the creative home of Bex, also known as Pigeon, a fibre artist and crochet designer based in West Sussex. Founded in 2012, the business grew from a need for creative expression and has been built gently over time alongside motherhood and family life. At its heart, The Pigeon’s Nest is about finding joy in the everyday and making space for creativity, even in the smallest moments.
Bex designs and makes everything from home, usually at her kitchen table, surrounded by Lego, art supplies and music playing in the background. Like many small business owners, her work has been built in short pockets of time, fitting creativity around real life. Her space reflects her personality perfectly, full of colour, warmth and playful details, with an eclectic edge that makes it feel lived in and true.
Photographing Bex felt like spending time with a friend. It was a dark grey day and instead of fighting it, we leaned into the mood with fairy lights in the kitchen and a roaring fire close by. That cosy feeling of warmth and slowing down felt like the perfect setting for her work. I loved how open and free she was in front of the camera, showing up as her authentic self. The highlight of the session was dancing in the kitchen like no one was watching, which felt like a perfect reflection of the joy at the heart of The Pigeon’s Nest.
